Shielded Cable or Unshielded Cable: How to Decide?

Shielding is mainly selected for signal stability, electromagnetic interference and control or instrumentation circuits.

Control cable and instrumentation cable buyers often ask whether they need copper wire braided shield, copper tape shield or no shield.

Shielded cable is usually considered when signal quality, measurement accuracy or electromagnetic interference matters. It may be heavier, less flexible and more expensive than unshielded cable.
